As a late entry, my name is not on the poster for this event, but I am so please to be included in the exhibition. Better late than never, huh!
My two pastels, Morning Ride, Waiting to Ride and my oil painting Mimic are part of an outstanding show EQUUS: The Art of the Horse at the Cofrin Arts Center Gallery at Oak Hall School in Gainesville FL. The show runs January 13 to Feb 17, 2012 and includes many top regional artists and is curated by Gary Bone.
Please join us at the artist's reception Friday, Jan 20 from 7 - 9 p.m.
As an added bonus, live horses will also be present at the opening in the courtyard behind the art gallery.
Cofrin Arts Center Gallery Hours are weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dana, Jerry, Kelley and Nancy thanks so much for taking the time to make such lovely comments.The show includes contemporary, abstracted and realistic depictions of horses in various media. Also two life size sculptures and real horses in the courtyard. What a treat.
When I was a docent at the Harn Museum of Art one of the favorite sculptures was one called Rory by Deborah Butterfield. A life size sculpture made from old red rusted tractor parts. This often sparked conversations about the "role" of the horse throughout history in our culture and others. Wish you all could be here to experience it.

so very beautifully captured...the slight bend of the horse and the rider looking left...perfect. The colors are stunning and I can almost feel the dawn breaking.
Thanks Maria and Sue. The opening reception was last night and we had a great time. If you are on facebook check out the pictures. I loved talking with the Oak Hall students. I remember when I was their age taking riding lessons, loving horses and hoping I would own a horse someday.
