The Light Falls Softly Art Opening, High Springs Co-op, Friday, September 6, 2013

My oil painting, Cobalt Blue Breeze, is an impression of a glorious day by the ocean. Can't you just see it on the wall of your beach cottage?
Hope it brings you pleasant memories of your beach vacation with children or grandchildren or quiet moments walking the beach with that refreshing breeze welcoming you to a beach day.

Tonight is the opening of The Light Falls Softly, my month long art exhibit at the High Springs Art Co-op in High Springs, FL.
Gallery hours are listed in a previous post.

So pleased when the Gainesville Sun newspaper featured my oil painting
Daybreak Kanapaha Prairie in the centerfold of the arts section of the Scene.

Probably the ONLY and best kind of centerfold picture I will ever have!

Gifts From the Sea

Shell on beach with natures patterned background.
One of the pleasures of a beach vacation is waking early then walking the beach to discover what gifts from the sea have been left for you to discover.
And if you are very lucky you might even see a beach rainbow.

White Camellias, the Gift of Southern Living

White Camellias
© Karen F. Rose
oil on canvas
8 x 8"
Sold

In the northern states this year, the white you saw in winter months was snow falling in record amounts.

Here in Florida, January, February and March saw a profusion of white too... the  delicate buds and blossoms of beautiful white camellias.

Want to give a gift of southern living? Perhaps a snow bird you know would love an original oil painting as a lovely reminder of their "winter holidays" in Florida.

With Love

I was honored and pleased to paint a commissioned oil painting portrait that was delivered last week.
Sometimes art can express what words cannot convey.
This oil painting will always have a special place in my heart.
Painted and given...with love.

Melrose Open Air Arts, Pasteling in the Park

Slow, No Wake
© Karen F Rose
pastel with museum glass
8x10"
Sold In Private Collection
What a busy week!
Last Sunday I took down my exhibit at Melrose Bay Art Gallery then headed off to Leesburg, FL for a wonderful workshop. With the time change I sprang forward on Sunday, but somehow was still missing that hour of extra sleep.
Then on Thursday, there was an emergency trip to the dentist...oops.
It was back to Melrose, FL on Friday and Saturday as I am participating in the Melrose Open Air Arts.
This is a great event with 45 invited artists. Yesterday was the public painting day in four designated painting locations.
Each year I always love sitting in the little Heritage Park by Melrose Bay. You see all manner of people and crafts on the water-fishing boats, sail boats, row boats, canoes, and kayaks.
What kind of water crafter are you?
Does the thrill of skimming across the water at amazing speed in the middle of a sunny day set your heart racing or
are you a Slow, No Wake kind of person taking in the sight and sounds of the lake in early morning with the sunrise glistening off the water?

Hope you visit my new web site www.karenfrose.com.
And yes, I ship unframed paintings anywhere in the country.
A special thank you goes out to a new collector in California. Thank you!

Melrose Open Air Arts 2012

My "Welcome to Melrose Bag"
decorated by an elementary school artist
photo Karen F. Rose
One of the great pleasures of participating in the Melrose Open Air Arts is to feel the community involvement to make the artists feel so welcome. At the breakfast for the artists on Wednesday morning, I was given a bag filled with coupons, a schedule and a map.
My "Welcome to Melrose" bag was decorated by a fifth grader from the local elementary school. Don't you just love the sunglasses she drew on the sun!

Speaking of the sun, on Wednesday and Thursday of this week I got up at the crack of dawn...well, actually before dawn more like 5 am to drive out to Melrose and experience the sun rise over lake Santa Fe.

This is the fourth year I have painted in the Open Air Arts and my finished paintings will be hanging in the Melrose Bay Art Gallery.
Hope to see you there and bring your sunglasses!
