Women Painters of the Southeast Second Annual Exhibit

This oil sketch Ain't Nothin But a Hound Dog traveled to Franklin, TN, juried into the Second Annual Women Painters of the Southeast Exhibit and Sale just in time for the event opening on April 20th.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the opening, but special thanks goes out to my friend Kathryn Dettwiller who stopped by Imagine Gallery and took a few photos of this amazing exhibit and gallery space for me. Thanks so much Kathryn!
And to my friends in Nashville and the surrounding area don't miss this show with over 150 gorgeous works of art!
Any Elvis fans out there... remember there is one special "hound" just waiting to go home with you!

The Open Air Event at Melrose Bay Art Gallery has been extended to May 12, 2013. Take a drive out to Melrose to see lovely paintings created during Open Air Arts.
So pleased that my pastel painting Slow No Wake has found a new home.
Have a great week!

April
So delighted that my oil painting Ain't Nothin But a Hound Dog has been juried into the Women Painter's of the Southeast 2013 Exhibition.
Imagine Gallery in Franklin, TN will host the preview and award event on April 19th and 20th. I am just so honored to be exhibiting with150 amazing women artists!

The response to my show Karen F. Rose The View From the Easel at Melrose Bay Art Gallery has been just fantastic. Several paintings have gone home with new collectors.
I received a lovely write up and picture in the Lake Region Monitor newspaper (thank you Dan Hildebran) and a picture of my painting "The Sentinel" in the Scene section of the Gainesville Sun. I think Andy Warhol had a saying about publicity!

Thank you so much to each and everyone who has come out to Melrose to see the exhibit. My heart is just overflowing with the positive comments I have received from so many of you.
There is a possibility the exhibit will be held over...I'll keep you posted.

I always enjoy painting portraits of dogs. Especially ones I have had the privilege of getting to know.
What a character this guy is!
Leo is a long haired dachshund, with short little legs, the courage of a lion and a look that will melt your heart!

An Australian Terrier

When going for a walk, joggers would often
comment about our dog, "What kind of dog is he?"
they would ask.

"An Australian Terrier", we'd smile and say.
On this cold day I am reminded of him.
After 14 years of our walks in the all kinds of weather,
we miss him.
